“I really want to do this—but I need to lose weight before a photoshoot.”
Behind this hesitation is a quiet doubt so many of us hold onto: the fear of not being “perfect” enough right now. I hear some version of this honest confession all the time.
And honestly? I understand where it comes from. For years, the world has told women—directly and indirectly—that we should wait until our bodies are smaller, firmer, younger, or somehow “better” before we step fully into view.
From the time we were young, we learned to treat our bodies like never-ending projects—something to shrink, smooth, firm, fix, or improve before we could finally feel good enough. But the finish line keeps moving. There is always another number to reach, another flaw to correct, or another version of ourselves we are told we should become.
It is a constant assault on our confidence, and the race to finally feel “acceptable” is utterly exhausting.
You do not have to become a different version of yourself before stepping in front of the camera!
Maybe you still want to lose weight. That is okay. This is not about telling you how you should feel about your body.
It is about not letting a digital scale—or any number at all—decide whether the woman you are today gets to exist in photographs.

What Are You Really Waiting For?
I think of it as the “waiting weight.”
It is the belief that you will finally book the session, buy the dress, take the trip, or step in front of the camera after you lose ten pounds.
Then ten pounds becomes another goal.
Or another season.
Or another reason that now is not quite the right time.
But your life is happening now…… so what actually happens when we wait?
- We erase ourselves from our own family history.
- We miss out on celebrating the fierce, capable woman we are today.
- We spend our precious energy hiding behind the camera instead of standing proudly in front of it.
The woman you are today is not a placeholder for some future, more acceptable version of you.
She is already living the life you may one day wish you had documented.

It’s time to let that sh*t go
Let’s have a moment of tough love and total transparency: It is time to say goodbye to the idea that who you are now or the state of your physical form is somehow unworthy.
That digital screen sitting on your bathroom floor? It doesn’t dictate your worth. You have survived, thrived, built a life, and evolved. You do not need to shrink yourself, and you certainly do not need to “bounce back” to a 20-year-old version of yourself that no longer exists. Besides, how incredibly boring would it be if we never evolved past who we were in our 20s? You have earned the right to take up space and to unapologetically celebrate yourself exactly as you are right now.
You are allowed to feel nervous. You are allowed to have parts of yourself that you struggle to see with kindness. You are allowed to want beautiful photographs while still having complicated feelings about your body.
In fact, almost every woman I’ve photographed has told me they’ve never felt comfortable in front of a camera. They know and trust I will listen, help them drop their shields so we can capture them in a way that feels natural, honest, and beautifully true to who they are—without forcing anything that doesn’t feel like them.

My Job Is Not to Change You
My job is to photograph you thoughtfully.
I use light, movement, expression, wardrobe, and guided posing to create images that feel intentional, elevated, and deeply you—not stiff, not forced, not like you’re trying to perform for the camera.
I’m not going to leave you, standing there wondering what to do with your hands or questioning if you’re doing it “right.” I will guide you through everything—how to stand, where to look, when to soften, when to breathe, and when to just let go. I will never heavily photoshop you into a plastic, AI-generated version of yourself. Instead, my expertise lies in precise studio lighting, body language, and expert posing. I know exactly how to guide your movements to beautifully sculpt your curves and showcase your shape
Your only job is to show up in your sweatpants, let my professional hair and makeup team pamper you, and trust me to guide you through every single breath and movement.
When you see your final images, the woman staring back is the real you. The one you don’t always get to see, but everyone else already knows and loves.
Nothing about you had to change.
Only the way your story was told.

This Version of You Deserves to Be Remembered
One day, you will look back at photographs of yourself and see far more than your weight.
You will see your expression.
Your presence.
The way you carried yourself.
The woman you were becoming.
You may even wonder why you were ever so hard on her.
Do not wait for a future version of yourself to give today’s woman permission to be seen.

Ready to Step in Front of the Lens?
You are already a masterpiece. Give yourself a day in the studio to remember it. I created the Unapologetically Over 40: The Masterpiece Project for women who are ready to put down some of the armor they have been carrying and see themselves through a different lens.
This is not about transforming you into someone else.
It is about creating the space for you to recognize what has been there all along.
Your Body Is Evidence That You Have Lived! Let’s celebrate that and honor it.
Stop waiting for the “perfect” weight.
Let’s celebrate the woman you are right now.
