“I always thought of Boudoir as something for thinner women than I am”
Ms K
Tomboy: a girl who enjoys rough, noisy activities traditionally associated with boys. Oh man, that word opens up a can of worms within today’s discussions on gender amongst other things BUT I won’t be talking about that. Instead I’m going to talk about a gorgeous women I will call Ms K and how she viewed herself growing up (as well as how I totally identified with her words).
There are typical things society has previously associated with young women: dresses, make up, being “dainty” (that word always makes me laugh), feminine, etc. If you didn’t fit into this small pigeon hole, girls are sometimes referred to as Tomboys. The more people refer to girls as a tomboy, the more it is a self fulfilling prophesy as they mature into women until someone helps them see the light. Because YOU CAN BE ALL THE THINGS and Ms K has finally reached that pinnacle with the help of her partner. And guess who got to help her celebrate and see it? THIS GIRL! Check out her stunning images and hear her story below.
I was really nervous that I wouldn’t feel comfortable with what I was doing or that I would feel out of place doing something that I always thought of as something for thinner women than I am. During the session, you (Cassy) made me feel so at ease and so confident, and after getting the photos back, I’m blown away to see a side of myself I didn’t really know was there. I feel like I looked sexy, and that’s not a feeling I’ve had before.
I haven’t. This was my first.
I’ve always wanted to do a boudoir shoot, but I never really saw it as a real option. I was always a tomboy, grew up with three brothers, and never wore dresses or makeup. As an adult, I still regularly rock the jeans and t-shirts, scraggly hair, and no makeup look. I’ve just never thought of myself as terribly feminine or sexy. For the first time in my life, though, I have a partner who makes me feel sexy and feminine and worthy of something like this. After giving it some thought, I decided to ignore the insecure part of my brain and give it a shot – partly as a gift for him to show my appreciation for how incredible he makes me feel, and partly as a gift for me to prove to myself that even if I’m a tomboy most of the time, I deserve to feel feminine and sexy when I want to.
I just had a lot of fun! You (Cassy) were so much fun to talk to and work with, the atmosphere was comfortable and fun, and I laughed so much!
I really enjoyed how empowered I felt, and how comfortable it was to do. You (Cassy) walked me through everything and absolutely made me feel like I deserved to do this for myself, and it was incredible.
Absolutely. I’m so pleased with the results I got. I feel like I looked really amazing, and so much of that is because of Cassy’s talent as an artist. I’m so happy to pay for the time and talent this kind of work requires.
